10 minutes experiment: Distributed computing
This time my little experiment was inspired by Michael Crichtons "Prey". In this nice book, mankind is on the cusp of being an easy prey for a flock of nano particles. These particles were programmed as autonomous agents, that is, agents that act on their own, mimicking an intelligent organism through very simple somehow evolutionary instructions.
The goal is to show that flocks of birds or schooling fishes look like a communicating unit though having very limited memory and knowledge of the world or the rest of the swarm - or put in different words: A simulation of politicians.
This experiment is not over yet, it is really basic.
Oh, yeah, up to now there are brave agents and wimps. They mostly try to stay around at least some of their pals.
And every time they try to leave the circle they get electrified and usually give up their stupid idea to escape.
Have fun!
